Hey! I'm Lexi and I am a third-year PhD student at the University of New Mexico. I received my Masters in Earth and Planetary Sciences from UNM in Spring of 2024. In 2020, I received my BS in Geology and my BA in Environmental Science from Queens College, a part of the City University of New York (CUNY).
I have worked on a number of research projects from paleoclimate through microfossils to aqueous ion adsorption to barite crystals and ultimately to various topics in volcanology. My masters thesis focused on working to understand potential mechanisms of volcanic sulfur sequestration using petrologic, gas collection/analysis, and thermodynamic modelling techniques.
My current work aims to relate geochemical and geodetic datasets for use in volcano monitoring. More specifically this involves reconstruction of volcano plumbing systems using field and petrologic methods to calibrate geophysical interpretations of SAR data.

I am really excited for the future of not only science, but how that science can be translated for a broader audience to welcome more people into the field.
